| About Us |
TEACH is a volunteer, homeschool support group serving families in Tallahassee and the surrounding communities.
Home education is an age old concept. Public education, on the other hand, has only been in existence for a relatively short time. Although public education began as a noble idea in 1838, secularism has diluted its ability to educate both mind and spirit.
In 1985, several homeschool families from Tallahassee attended a Gregg Harris seminar. He encouraged them to start a support group. From a humble beginning TEACH has grown. Currently we average about 40-50 families a year. We are comprised of a healthy mix of both veteran home educators and many who are just starting out on this wonderful journey. Many of our children have gone on to college and some are now out on their own.
Our Purpose
- The Mission of TEACH is to equip and encourage other home educators to fulfill the calling God has placed on their lives to educate their children. We believe there are five major ways in which this can be accomplished:
- Ensure that the activities, materials, and use of resources are in line with Biblical principles.
- Share Biblical parenting principles.
- Communicate the importance of our freedom to home educate our children and provide information on complying with state laws governing homeschooling.
- Mobilize members to serve and network with one another.
- Provide guidance in selecting home education curriculum and methodologies, and provide educational opportunities.
